“My physical and mental well–being were saved by this team,” said the nominator, who was a patient on the unit.
“It was evident from each of these individuals that they genuinely and graciously wanted to be caring for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies.”
The patient shared that the members of the interdisciplinary team provided personal, compassionate care.
“I want to thank each interdisciplinary team member which includes psychiatry and emergency room providers, nursing staff, patient care technicians, behavioral health specialists, social workers, occupational therapists and pastoral support caregivers.”
“My physical and mental well-being were saved by this team,” the patient shared.
The nominator was particularly impressed by the individualized treatment she received.
“My mental and physical well-being were of the utmost importance to the health care team. I found that all the group sessions were well-designed, implemented thoroughly and were applicable to all patients, who require acute psychiatric and medically complex care,” she wrote.
“What separates the Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit at ChristianaCare from other facilities is the unwavering and unequivocal compassion exhibited by the behavioral health inpatient team.”
Even in the middle of the night, the nominator said, she still never felt alone. She said that every health care provider “effortlessly united into a team who advocated for my best interests.” At the end of her stay, she felt adequately prepared for discharge.
“I witnessed ChristianaCare’s vision that [patients] perceive excellence and love in every interaction,” she wrote. “To say I had an excellent patient experience and received exceptional care is an understatement.
“I draw parallel from the song verse ‘Take a sad song and make it better’ from ‘Hey Jude’ by The Beatles to my road to recovery, which was made so by the diligent behavioral health inpatient team.”
