WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The Dayspring Regional Health center celebrated their one year anniversary on Tuesday, July 1.

Dayspring health along with Spectrum hosted an investment celebration and roundtable discussion with partners who assisted in the project’s finances.

Local leaders and Kentucky State Senate President, Robert Stiver, were also at the celebration.

“Health care is such a critical thing these days in the United States, especially rural health care,” Sen. Robert Stivers said.

Officials say many rural areas lack health care resources, specifically in more rural areas. The idea of this ‘one-stop-shop’ was to allow affordable care to rural communities in Kentucky.

“When people walk into our facility, many of them say, “Wow.” But some even walk in and say, “I feel like I don’t deserve to be here,” Larry Rector, CEO of Dayspring Health said. “Because this idea that quality health care is not reserved for those who have. It’s intended for all.”

Officials from Hope Enterprise Corporation, FAHE, Spectrum and Dayspring Health joined to highlight the impact the investment has made to the people, as well as to the economy.

While celebrating the accomplishments the facility has made within the past year, officials also spoke on what they are excited for in the future.

Sen. Robert Stivers said, “we can come here and actually have access to even more healthcare providers and more specialties because they have the ability to have telehealth links to UK, Knoxville, other places like that. So you broaden your world in the way of having healthcare expertise right here in your backyard.”

Hopeful to elaborate more Telehealth services to Dayspring, while also keeping services affordable.

“Cost is going to continue to be a barrier for patients, continue to be a barrier for sustainability. So, collaboration like we celebrated today will have to continue. Bringing those that are caring about this community and others like this, making health care in rural areas possible. That’s what I’m excited about in the future,” Rector said.
