Gilbert Arenas' Honest Take on Giannis Antetokounmpo's Future With Bucks

There's an uncertainty about Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks. Even before the end of the 2024-25 NBA season, there were talks about Antetokounmpo's plans with his career. There was concern whether he would stay in Milwaukee or leave, given the three straight years that the Bucks have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

The noise around the Greek Freak picked up more momentum when his co-star, Damian Lillard, suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Then again, when the front office waived Lillard to sign Myles Turner to a $107 million, four-year contract.

As the offseason began, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Antetokounmpo is "open" to exploring his options this summer. Fortunately for the Bucks, the 2021 Finals MVP hasn't vocally requested a trade from the management.

Amid the talk, three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas weighed in on the matter. Arenas gave an honest assessment of what he thinks Antetokounmpo's decision will be. The former NBA star revealed his thoughts on Monday's episode of his program, "Gil's Arena."

"He seems probably the most loyal when it comes to what he values: family, the only agent that ever believed in him. He's a very loyal person, so it seems like he would try to do whatever it takes to stay there," Arenas said on his show. "It seems like he's willing to stay home and play his career out and try to win there because he knows that his legacy depends on it."

On Sunday, Bucks' president Peter Feigin shut down the talk about Antetokounmpo wanting to leave the team. During a broadcast of Milwaukee's Summer League game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Feigin claimed that the two sides are "in a good place."

"We kinda laugh internally, it's where we've been for 10 years," Feigin said. "Giannis loves Milwaukee, Milwaukee loves Giannis. We're at a good place. We feel great about it. It's business as usual."

Antetokounmpo has also repeatedly hinted that he's staying in Milwaukee. However, there hasn't been any official statement about the Bucks star wanting to stay with the organization.
