The Healthy Petaluma Foundation announced June 11 it has awarded $350,000 in general operating support (GOS) grants to 22 community nonprofit organizations whose services focus on advancing health equity, prevention, early intervention and community resilience.

The funds, which range from $10,000 to $22,500, will support the grantees’ work to address the root causes of health disparities and respond to evolving needs in the southern Sonoma County communities comprised of Petaluma, Sonoma, Kenwood, Glen Ellen, Rohnert Park and Cotati.

Of the 22 organizations receiving a grant, five were awarded the highest amount of $22,500 each. They are Amor Para Todos, Café Puente, Committee on the Shelterless (COTS), On the Margins, Inc., and Petaluma River Park Foundation, according to the release.

Grantees represent a cross-section of service areas, including mental health, youth support, senior services, housing access, food security and culturally competent care, according to the announcement.

The Healthy Petaluma Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by southern Sonoma County’s health care district, collectively known as Healthy Petaluma District and Foundation.

“General Operating Support gives our community partners the capacity to remain responsive, innovative and mission-focused,” Ramona Faith, CEO of Healthy Petaluma District and Foundation, stated in the June 11 announcement. “By investing in their infrastructure and long-term sustainability, we strengthen the broader health and well-being ecosystem in southern Sonoma County.”

This cycle marks the first of two General Operating Support funding rounds for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, each with a $350,000 budget. Round two will be announced in fall 2025, according to the press release.

In the announcement, Cheryl Negrin, a Healthy Petaluma Foundation board member who served on the grant review committee, said: “We're dedicated to improving the health of our community through funding, targeted initiatives and our relationships with partner organizations.”
