San Jose mayor, family of allegedly assaulted teen call for more mental health services

A homeless man with a history of mental health issues who allegedly assaulted a teenager in San Jose two months ago walked out of court freely on Wednesday.

The man had only spent a few weeks in jail before his release.

Now, the family of the teenager and Mayor Matt Mahan are calling on the county to invest more in mental health services and public safety resources to prevent similar incidents in the future.
