The 2025-26 Scottish Premiership fixtures are being released on Friday morning - and you can see them on the BBC Sport website and app as soon as they are announced.

Celtic will be going for a fifth successive title, having finished 17 points clear at the top last time.

The 2024-25 campaign ended on 18 May and now, a month later, the countdown to next season is under way.

When do the fixtures get released?

The first 33 rounds of fixtures, which take us to the divisional split in April, will be revealed at 09:00 BST on Friday, 20 June.

Will it be home or away on the opening weekend? When will the big derby days be? And when will you get a chance to sample the famous Killie Pie?

You can get the latest news from your favourite team sent direct to your device.

When does the Premiership season start?

The top flight action kicks off on the weekend of 2/3 August.

Fixture round 33 arrives on 11 April, with the five rounds of post-split games ending on the weekend of 16/17 May.

The Premiership play-off final will be played over two legs on 21 and 24 May, with the Scottish Cup final being played on Saturday, 23 May.

While the fixtures will be released on Friday, there will still be room for some shuffling about to accommodate games being broadcast live on television, so hold off booking that B&B in Motherwell.

Who are the new teams in the Premiership?

Falkirk make their return to the Scottish top flight after an absence of 15 years.

John McGlynn's side earned back-to-back promotions by topping the Championship after completing an unbeaten season in League 1.

Livingston finished three points behind Falkirk but made sure they bounced back to the top division straight away with their play-off final victory.

It was third time unlucky for Ross County in that final, which leaves the league without Highland representatives for the first time since 2018-19.

Falkirk and Livingston use artificial pitches and Kilmarnock are hanging on to theirs after pushing back plans to replace it.

Who are the new Premiership managers?

There have been quite a few managerial changes since last season was completed.

Russell Martin is the new Rangers head coach and the Ibrox club has new American owners.

Jens Berthel Askou has moved from Denmark to take over at Motherwell and Dundee opted to bring in former Dundee United player Steven Pressley.

Derek McInnes has swapped Kilmarnock for Heart of Midlothian, while Stuart Kettlewell stepped into the vacancy at Rugby Park.

It means five of the 12 clubs this season will be starting the campaign with a new team boss.

Will the Premiership have a winter break?

Once again, there will be no winter break given the increased demands of the European schedule.

Of the five Scottish teams playing in Europe, champions Celtic and Scottish Cup winners Aberdeen are guaranteed to be involved in a continental league phase.

Rangers, Hibernian and Dundee United will, of course, be hoping to join them.

With the league phase of the Champions League and Europa League running until the end of January, there's just no room to plan any time off midway through the term.

Will teams get a long Premiership pre-season?

In short, no.

Some teams are already back, with some playing friendlies as early as this weekend.

The Premiership teams who aren't involved in European qualifying commence their League Cup campaign on Saturday, 12 July.

On the continent, Rangers face Panathinaikos on 22 July in Glasgow in a Champions League qualifier first leg. The return is the following week.

Hibernian go to Denmark to face Midtjylland on Europa League qualifying duty two days later, while Dundee United are at home to UNA Strassen of Luxembourg on the same night on a Conference League mission.

Again, the return legs will come the next week.

Celtic and Aberdeen won't go into their play-off round ties for the Champions League and Europa League respectively until 19/20/21 August - well after the domestic season kicks off.
