Crain’s Cleveland Business: J.B. Silvers, the Albert J. Weatherhead III Professor of Management at Weatherhead School of Management, noted that hospitals—especially smaller ones—would suffer significant financial losses due to a rise in uncompensated care if the federal government cuts Medicaid. “Almost certainly, a significant number of those would close,” he said. “They just wouldn’t have the money.”
