From restaurateurs and parade participants to parks and recreation employees and high school athletes, the city of Webster Groves honored dozens of community members with proclamations during its regular city council meeting Tuesday.
Green Dining Recognition
Green Dining Week is July 14-20 in Webster Groves, honoring the 10 restaurants that earned Webster recognition as the St. Louis region’s fifth official Green Dining District, meaning 25% of its locally owned restaurants have earned Green Dining Alliance certification. Those restaurants are Bagel Union, Balkan Treat Box, Beignet All Day, Big Sky Café, Bijoux Handcrafted Chocolates, Madrina, Maypop Coffee & Garden Shop, Olive & Oak, Robust Bistro and Wine Bar, and Telva at the Ridge.
Community Days Parade Awards
Celebrating winners across seven categories out of 56 floats in this year’s Community Days Parade on July 4, the city awarded the following as standouts: Veterans of Battle of the Bulge (Best Civic Entry), Webster Groves High School Athletic Department/Webster Groves Booster Club (Special Judges Award), Webster Groves High School Cheer Team (Best Performing Entry), St. Louis Corvette Club (Best Classical Entry), Hudson Hype Bucket Drummers (Best Children’s Entry) and Telle Tire (Best Commercial Entry.)
Parks & Recreation Month
July is Parks and Recreation Month in Webster Groves. The city recognized its more than 125 parks and recreation employees for their impact on the community.
WGHS State Champs
Recognized for a legacy of leadership, teamwork and community spirit, the 2024-25 Webster Groves High School boys varsity basketball and boys track and field teams were honored for their respective Missouri State High School Activities Association state championship wins this spring.
Friday, July 18, is Webster Groves High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team Day in Webster Groves in recognition of the team’s Class 5 state championship on March 20, 2025 — the sixth overall varsity boys basketball team championship for the program.
Friday, July 25, is WGHS Statesmen Track & Field Day in Webster Groves in recognition of the team’s Class 4 state championship on May 31, 2025 — a feat not accomplished since 1931.
