LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock VA Clinic is hoping to keep women veterans, and anyone married to a veteran healthy.
The VA hosted a women’s health conference at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center on Saturday.
The event featured art classes, Tai Chi and a resource fair, along with a free lunch.
The conference was held in honor of Women Veterans Recognition Day, which was Thursday.
Kristen Fife with the Amarillo VA says even small efforts to thanks women for their service makes a huge impact.
“We want to give them support and let them know that they are not forgotten,” Fife said. “We recognize the sacrifices they made in the military, that they continue to make. We are here to support them and help them and empower them to be the best version of them.”
This is the first year for the event and organizers hope to make this an annual event honoring women who served.
